Bolivar  is  History

Finally got all the remaining "stuff" from over there in TX to over here.

On my 2 previous trips, the old Ford van (aka Vanna White) and my utility trailer were filled to the max.

Then, I got bogged down with inertia -- couldn't get myself going for the 3rd and final trip.

Fortunately, my good neighbors let me store the remainder in an empty corner of their barn.

After a year, I started feeling really guilty about my procrastination - and  taking advantage of their good nature.

So, all "stuff" is finally here, including the old 24 ft. RV.

P.S.  I held a "yard sale" at the local farmer's market to get rid of some of it ......

New Owner of the Bolivar Lots made MAJOR CHANGES

I was really disappointed to see what the new owner of my old Bolivar place had done to the place.

I had spent the 20+ years that I had lived there planting trees and bushes on the land.

Not only was this to add some "architectural" interest to the place but also to provide a refuge for the birds leaving and returning on their annual migrations -- an important consideration since Bolivar is on a major migration flyway.

So what did he do?

He cut down ALL the bushes and trees except for 2 of the fruitless mulberry trees - which he pruned severely.

The fence that I built around the property was pulled down.  What a waste of my efforts.

( con't. from previous column )

Additionally, he added almost a foot of fill (dredged from the intracoastal - salt-laden muck) all over the place. - of course this will kill the 2 hapless mulberries and keep everything except for the trashiest, most invasive of weeds and scrub shrub/trees from growing.

He even cut down a fine old Wisteria "tree".

Poor birdies!!!

And my old trailer?  Sold off the property, repaired by, and serving the needs of, another family - this is good,  the ONLY good thing!

My old neighbor pointed out that I had sold it - all emotional ties should be cut - I found myself having a hard time doing this ...

Poor birdies !!!!!!!
